Sarah Michelle Gellar, who played the heroine of “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” from 1997 to 2003, was open to the possibility of reopening the story of the Slayer!
She had always said this wouldn't happen with her and finally… why not? Sarah Michelle Gellar, the iconic star of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, spoke about a possible return of the cult series and was open to the idea for the first time!
Sarah Michelle Gellar up for a 'Buffy' comeback
Currently in the middle of a promotional tour to advertise Dexter: Original Sin (a prequel to Dexter, notably starring Patrick Dempsey and Christian Slater), the actress who has made a series of failed comebacks (The Crazy Ones, Ringer, Wolf Pack ) was a guest on the set of the American show The Drew Barrymore Show and made this statement which surprised more than one fan of the Slayer:
“It's funny, I always said 'No' about a revival because Buffy the Vampire Slayer is unique and perfect. But seeing And Just Like That [la suite de Sex & The City sur Max, ndlr] and the Dexter franchise, I see that there are ways to do it and I'm like, 'Well, maybe.'“
“Our world needs these heroes”
Sarah Michelle Gellar adds that this potential new fiction might not necessarily be a prequel: “It could be anything. It's a universe. It makes you realize that we need heroes in this world, more than ever I think.“
After rumors of a reboot in recent years, will the story of Buffy Summers reopen? And to what extent would the actress be involved? One thing is certain in any case, this breach gives hope to the fans!
Adapted from the film Buffy the Vampire Slayer released in 1992 (with another actress in the shoes of our heroine), the eponymous series subsequently saw the light of day, in 1997. It lasted seven seasons, until 2003, and counting thus 144 episodes with Sarah Michelle Gellar, of course.
