A lot of attention for Sven Pichal in the media today, after his conviction in court. Gert Verhulst also zooms in on the verdict (and the urine incident) and discusses with Pichal’s lawyer Walter Damen how to proceed.
In the court of Antwerp, Sven Pichal was sentenced to 3 years suspended for possessing and distributing images of child abuse. The judge called the facts very serious, but ruled that it was not necessary to send the former VRT presenter back to prison. Also controversial was the incident on the steps of the courthouse: Pichal was sprayed with urine. Walter Damen, the lawyer for the fallen radio voice, explains Gert’s table whether he is satisfied with the verdict and what path his client will now follow. (Read more below the photo)
Jana Asselman from Ghent University – aka ‘Professor Plastic’ – also joins the table. She comes to warn about the gigantic plastic problem we are facing. Not only the seas and rivers, but also our own bodies are full of micro and nanoplastics that enter our cells and cause hormone disruption or cancer. The causes? Water from plastic bottles, cucumbers or tomatoes wrapped in plastic, and even in the air we breathe. Professor Asselman explains how harmful this is and what we can do about it.
Better news can be found in the cinemas. Flemish director Anthony Schatteman will make his debut there this week with his first feature film Young Hearts, which has already been praised abroad. In the film, 14-year-old Elias falls in love with the boy next door and searches for his identity, with the full support of his parents. Schatteman found inspiration in his own life story and tells it Gert’s table how difficult that search was for himself. Sitting next to him Unclesactress Emilie De Roo, who plays the role of Elias’ mother, and on the other side are table jumpers Herman Brusselmans, Kim Van Oncen and urologist Piet Hoebeke.
