The Light Blues face Celtic in the Premier Sports Cup final at the national stadium and punters turned out in their numbers early doors.

The Gers ultras seemed to be in the festive spirit as they were all donning Santa hats for the long walk to Mount Florida.

But things started turning ugly rather quickly as chaos unfolded outside Glasgow Central station with cops forced to get involved.

Footage shows fans beginning their march before being halted by police on Gordon Street and urged to turn around and change direction.

That’s when some raging fans lashed at cops, with one yob squaring up with the officers on scene.

The individual retreated after being confronted by officers, before swinging at a nearby police van and knocking its wing mirror.

The fans continued their march but the scenes only got worse from then on.

Further footage has shown the moment their paths crossed with Celtic ultras in the city centre and both sets of supporters clashed in front of terrified shoppers.

Hoops supporters were spotted in the Merchant City area while their rivals walked from Glasgow Central with a heavy police presence.

Christmas shoppers were forced to take shelter in shops as pyro was being lit right in front of them.

In one of the videosa woman can be heard shouting while another woman attempts to exit the HMV store on Argyle Street.

But they headed back into cover after the pyro was lit off just outside and baton-wielding officers struck the violent yobs.

The Scottish Sun have contacted Police Scotland for comment.
