At the end of the match against La Roche-sur-Yon, the coach of the Girondins de Bordeaux, Bruno Irlescommented on the presence in the stadium of Bordeaux supporters, whether they are ordinary and not included, or the 90 from the North Gate.
“We are happy, yes, even if we don’t really understand. We think they're not there (smile), then they're there… Afterwards, it's 'fun'. I saw it on another scale, I was in Monaco, and we often had Monegasque supporters from all over France. We went to Strasbourg, we had lots of Monegasques, we went to Paris and it was the same thing… And Bordeaux, I have the impression that it's the same. There are people who support Bordeaux, and who are not from Bordeaux, and so that’s nice. In addition, yes, we had Bordeaux supporters who came. So, I know that they don't have the right, but we can point out that it has always gone very well in the meetings where they came like that outside in civilian clothes, because they are not dressed as Bordeaux supporters. But it always went very well, and the La Roche sur Yon club must be happy because there was a good atmosphere, and it was always in a very good state of mind.”
Were the players happy to be able to counter their audience despite being banned?
“We had it once in Saumur, in the Coupe de France too and I had never seen a closed session like that, but there were supporters from everywhere. We have this surprise sometimes. We are ready to do without, to do with. But when we have our supporters, it’s a real plus.”
