Nine departments in the region are placed on yellow “snow-ice” alert by Météo France this Friday. Temperatures will drop again at the end of the day, with risks of snowfall.
Météo France has activated yellow “snow-ice” vigilance in nine departments in the region this Friday, December 13.
Puy-de-Dôme, Loire, Haute-Loire (where a lot of snow fell this Friday), Ardèche, Drôme and Cantal are already on yellow alert until the middle of next night.
The Rhône, Isère and Ain will be on yellow alert from 9 p.m. this Friday evening and until the end of next night. Please note that Saône-et-Loire will be open from 6 p.m.
Snow at altitude Saturday morning
Snowfall is expected either next night or Saturday morning. This is the case in Ain where snowflakes will fall from 700 meters above sea level.
Same thing in the Loire where snow is expected at altitude, on the heights of Ondaine and the Stéphanois basin.
It is therefore advisable to equip your vehicle with winter tires or snow chains/socks in the towns affected by the obligation, but also to exercise caution on the road, especially at altitude.
“Reduce your speed, increase safety distances and favor engine braking on descents. In the event of icy conditions: avoid braking suddenly, decelerate smoothly and maintain your trajectory smoothly”advise the authorities.
