After several hours of intensive efforts, the man was overpowered and arrested by emergency services shortly before 4 p.m.
He was then taken to a hospital in an ambulance to undergo a medical examination.
The Diamant Task Force (EGD) is an elite unit of the Zurich Cantonal Police that is specially trained for high-risk situations.
It was founded in 1973 in response to increasing terrorist threats and celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2023.
The approximately 75-member unit is deployed in particularly dangerous situations, including: arrests under difficult conditions, hostage rescues and rescue operations in difficult situations.
