The administration of the Ittihad football club in Tangier announced that the funeral prayer in tribute to the late Abdelatif Akhrif will take place this Sunday, December 15 after midday prayer.

In a statement published on its official social networks, the club clarified that this decision was taken in agreement with the family of the deceased, in order to allow players, club members and supporters to attend the funeral.

Yesterday, Hesport reported that Moroccan authorities received the body of Abdelatif Akhrif at one of the border points in the city of Oujda.

As a reminder, Akhrif had been missing since July 6, after the tragic incident of the “boat excursion” off the coast of Tetouan, which involved five members of the Ittihad club from Tangier.

Three of them were rescued, while Akhrif’s remains were found on the Algerian coast a month after the accident.

Steps to repatriate his body were only finalized recently. The fate of the last player, Salman El Harraq, remains unknown to this day.
