During the funeral of Michel Blanc, the members of the Splendid troupe paid tribute to their deceased friend with a touch of humor, faithful to the spirit of the deceased.
Michel Blanc, emblematic member of the Splendid troupe, died on October 3 at the age of 72 following a heart attack. His friends and colleagues, Josiane Balasko, Thierry Lhermitte, Christian Clavier, Marie-Anne Chazel, Gérard Jugnot and Bruno Moynot, gathered to say goodbye to him during his funeral at the Saint-Eustache Church, before his burial in the cemetery of Père-Lachaise in Paris.
During an interview with Isabelle Ithurburu for the program “50'inside”, Thierry Lhermitte shared a memorable moment from the funeral: “I haven't gotten used to it yet, to tell you the truth honestly. We were at the ceremony, but we had the impression that Michel was still there, with us, laughing.” He described spontaneous bursts of laughter during the ceremony, as a nod to their friend's inimitable humor.
A bundle full of memories and laughter
For their last tribute, the members of Splendid chose a joke as a message about a wreath of flowers placed on the grave of Michel Blanc. Thierry Lhermitte explained: “With Michel, we had fun calling ourselves 'President' of our little imaginary company. We had invented an absurd name: 'La Française d'intensity', which means nothing, but who acts like the Frenchwoman of games, the Frenchwoman of oil, the Frenchwoman of thing, thing, It made us laugh.”
On the wreath, they wrote: “Your colleagues from the Frenchwoman of intensity”. Thierry Lhermitte confided with emotion: “It was like we were having a retirement ceremony. I'm sure Michel would have laughed a lot at that, a lot, a lot.”
Faithful to the spirit of Michel Blanc, his friends at Splendid knew how to mix humor and tenderness, offering a farewell that was both sincere and tinged with lightness. A touching way to celebrate the memory of the one who, through his talent and his wit, made them laugh so much.
