The water network has now been reconnected and the situation should return to normal during the course of the day, the Water Group reports. “Due to a leak in the main water supply pipe in Grimbergen, the water tower in Brussegem emptied,” says spokeswoman Brigitte Van Damme. “As a result, there is less water pressure or, in some areas that are higher, no water during the morning peak.”
The water has also been stirred up in the pipe, which may cause the drinking water to have a brown color in some places. “We then advise residents to let the water run for a while until it is clear again. The cloudy water is not harmful to health. The pipeline network has now been reconnected and the leak is being stopped. We expect the situation to normalize during the day,” says Van Damme.
It is recommended not to use water during the water outage, to keep all taps closed and not to run the dishwasher and other electrical appliances connected to the water mains. De Watergroep reports in a message that the problems should be resolved by 5 p.m. today, December 4.
Last weekend, about fifteen homes in Grimbergen were also without water. A water leak then caused a large sinkhole. It is not clear whether there is a connection with the new problems.
