Since the impressive landslide which cut off national road 102 at Pont-de-Labeaume in southern Ardèche, heavy goods vehicle traffic has become very complicated. If they can no longer cross the town, some do not hesitate, despite the diversions, to take the local roads around them. This Wednesday, December 4, in the morning, one of them found himself blocked by mistake on the small, narrow road to Bayzan, leading to the hamlet of the same name.
It would be a 30 tonne semi-trailer, while the road is prohibited beyond 10 tonnes. This is one of the diversions put in place since the landslide, but only for local motorists. “There are always some who think they are smarter than others,” exasperates the mayor of the town Yves Veyrenc. “As a result, the road is blocked for the day. The tow truck is on the way, but it may take the day to free the vehicle. The hamlet is therefore isolated throughout this time,” adds the councilor. The national gendarmerie is on site to avoid any further blockages.

New restrictions for heavy goods vehicles
This Wednesday morning, the Ardèche prefecture recalled that this road known as Bayzan/Les Issoux is prohibited for all vehicles weighing more than 10 tonnes in both directions of traffic, as is the municipal road known as the Arlix road. (Vals-les-Bains), located on the left bank of the Ardèche river between the Pont sur l'Ardèche of Pont-de-Labeaume and the bridge over the Ardèche of Vals-les-Bains.
The prefecture has also published a new traffic restriction order for heavy goods vehicles. The circulation of vehicles weighing more than 19 tonnes is prohibited on part of departmental road 5 (RD 5) “whose fluidity was compromised by the circulation of an excessive number of heavy goods vehicles. »
The restriction applies on the RD5 between its intersection with the RN 102 and the entrance to the commune of Jaujac and on the RD 26 between its intersection with the RN 102 and its intersection with the RD 5.
“The clearing work will continue for several more days”
Before adding: “The State and departmental council services are continuing their mobilization to clear the way and secure the area as quickly as possible. However, given the configuration of the site and the importance of the landslide, the clearing work will continue for several more days. The ongoing assessments will provide an estimate of the duration of the blockage of the RN 102.”
