Michel Barnier's government could be overthrown quickly. The latter, due to lack of a majority, resorted, on Monday, December 2, to article 49.3 of the Constitution to have the draft budget for Social Security adopted without a vote, examined for final reading in the National Assembly.

The New Popular Front (NFP) – which brings together La France insoumise, the Socialist Party, the Ecologists and the Communist Party – immediately announced its intention to table a motion of censure, the second in its name since the appointment of the Barnier government, the September 21. His previous motion, tabled on October 8, was only voted for by 197 deputies out of 577, a number then insufficient to overthrow the government.
This time, the National Rally (RN) announced that it would vote on the motion and table another on its initiative. “Wherever these motions come from, we will vote on them, and first of all ours”reacted Marine Le Pen Monday afternoon, after the announcement of the use of article 49.3 by Michel Barnier.
The sum of all the votes of the RN and those of the left coalition should mathematically be enough to censure the government. Elements of uncertainty remain, however, since each deputy remains free to vote.
With our simulator, you can test various voting configurations in order to reach the absolute majority necessary to overthrow the Barnier government, set at 288 votes, since two seats are vacant out of the 577. You can count the political groups as a whole, but also consider, to complicate the situation, that certain deputies decide not to follow the instructions of their own group (you just need to modify the number of voters with the arrows on the right).
