“Dad, mom, sorry, I’m leaving”… This worrying message left by the teenager

It's been more than a week since Morgane Rivoal's family has heard from the teenager. Aged 13, the young girl left her home on foot on November 25 in Pabu, in Côtes-d'Armor. At the same time as usual, to take your bus and go to the Albert-Camus de Grâces college, very close to Guingamp. But she never got on the bus. The day before, a quarrel had broken out in the family, around the use of cell phones and social networks. The teenager's father broke the device and took his daughter's SIM card.

The next morning she left the house. And nothing since. This Monday, the Saint-Brieuc public prosecutor took stock of the investigation and the intense searches undertaken over the past eight days to find the teenager.

Crumpled mail in the trash

Although the gendarmes have deployed enormous resources, they have so far collected few clues. In the trash in the teenager's room, a crumpled sheet of paper was found. It said: “Dad, mom, sorry, I’m leaving,” said prosecutor Nicolas Heitz. When questioned, her parents explained that their daughter had never run away and lived a “normal” childhood. “She worked well at college, she had friends. »

The criticism that seemed to be leveled at him systematically revolved around excessive use of social networks. When questioned, several classmates, however, mentioned a certain “addiction” to social networks and a certain recent isolation. People spoke of a possible situation of harassment at college, some even going so far as to describe scarification marks.

Over the course of 110 interviews with witnesses and relatives, investigators were also able to establish that the teenager was having conversations with older people she met on social networks. Over the weekend, she had also posted a story, since deleted, to say “that she would not come to class on Monday”, the prosecutor said. All the people with whom she was in contact “were questioned” and their homes searched. “None provided relevant information on the location of the teenager. »

A man in police custody in Drôme

A 21-year-old man living in Drôme had opened a Snapchat account for Morgane. On this man’s phone, several images of child pornography were found “not concerning Morgane”. He was taken into custody.

Considerable resources were deployed around Pabu to try to find the young girl. All the tracks sniffed out by the specialized dogs “lead to the Castel-Pic district in Guingamp,” confided Colonel Stéphane Privat, head of the Côtes-d’Armor gendarmerie group. “All the housing in the neighborhood was visited,” assured the public prosecutor.

Morgane left without money or business

The magistrate opened a judicial investigation to investigate the causes of the disappearance. “No one will let down their guard,” promised the magistrate. A helicopter and a drone were notably deployed to try to find the teenager. Rivers and streams were explored. In vain.
