It is a scourge that affects many footballers. This Sunday, December 1, in Chassieu, near Lyon, an Olympique Lyonnais player was the victim of an armed robbery at his home, we learned from a police source. According to Actu Lyon, the victim is international Georges Mikautadze, 24 years old.
According to our information, confirmed by the Lyon prosecutor's office, around 9:20 p.m., while he was returning home after the match won by Les Gones against Nice (4-1) at the end of the afternoon, this professional player and his partner came face to face with hooded criminals. The two individuals, equipped with long weapons, robbed and kidnapped the couple.
While one accomplice held the player and his wife at gunpoint, the other searched the pavilion looking for valuable objects.
According to a police source, the robbers, who did not assault the couple, fled on foot, loaded with loot in luxury bags and watches which would amount to 150,000 euros. Actu Lyon mentions up to 200,000 euros in damage.
Entrusted to the police, the investigation began by examining video surveillance images from the couple's house.
Many footballers or those close to footballers are regular victims of this type of burglary, often carried out in their absence, but not always. In 2023, PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, for example, was robbed, attacked and tied up at his home in the middle of the night.
