Émilie Dequenne made revelations about the cancer she was diagnosed with more than a year ago on TF1 on December 1, 2024. The 43-year-old actress made a sad announcement which greatly affected viewers.

Emilie Dequenne fights against cancer

In October 2023, the actress publicly announced that she had cancer rare which forced her to undergo an operation two months earlier.

This is a corticosurrénalome : a cancer that affects the adrenal gland, producing hormones. The latter is very rare since it affects one to two people in a million per year. In April 2024, Emilie Dequenne clarified on Instagram that she was in complete remission although remaining under surveillance and treatment.

Emilie Dequenne starts chemotherapy again

In “The portrait of the week” on Sept à Huit, Emilie Dequenne explained: “I saw my doctor to check the progress of the treatment and it turns out that unfortunately it is not progressing well (…) There is a part of my cancer that responds, and another that does not respond or even progresses. The part that progresses is larger than the one that reduces. Here I am again, leaving for the chemo that I experienced a little more ago. one year.” She added wearily: “I'm going to lose my hair again…and then the thought of finding myself in the hospital every three weeks for five days…”

The actress specifies: “We only talk about remission. We will never talk about recovery.” She adds: “Deep down I know that I will not live as long as expected (…) I am only 43 years old. I have always dreamed of living until at least 80 years old and m “fall asleep permanently in my sleep. That's what I'm asking for.” Nevertheless, with this testimony, Emilie Dequenne shares a message of hope: “I trust medicine. (…) I hope that research for my cancer will continue to advance.”
