Émilie Dequenne will have to face chemotherapy once again. This Sunday, December 1, she spoke about her fight against cancer.

A cancer that recurs. This Sunday, December 1, Émilie Dequenne was the guest of the new issue of the show “Sept à Huit” on TF1. The opportunity for the actress to look back on her recent health problems which forced her to put her career on hold.

It was in August 2023 that Émilie Dequenne learned that she had a rare and aggressive cancer. If the actress had announced that she had gained ground on her illness, her cancer has unfortunately returned. A recent announcement which will force the Belgian actress to resume her treatments. With Audrey Crespo-Mara, she discusses the context of her recurrence: “I saw my doctor to check the progress of the treatment and it turns out that, unfortunately, it is not progressing well. There is a part of my cancer that responds to it and another that does not respond to it, or even progresses. » She continues by revealing that she has to resume heavy treatment: “Here I go again for the chemo that I experienced, a little over a year ago, with even a small dose in addition to something new which, apparently -it will surprise the tumor. (…) And I’m going to lose my hair again.” A new phase of chemotherapy which will force her to be hospitalized for five days every three weeks.

A very rare cancer

During this interview, the actress returned to the nature of her cancer. She then explains that she suffers from an adrenocorticaloma, a tumor that resides on her adrenal gland, located above the kidney. A very rare form of cancer which, according to the explanations of Émilie Dequenne “affects one to two people in 1 million, per year, in the world”. When Audrey Crespo-Mara asks her if she has a chance of recovery, she responds factually: “We don't just have remission. We will never talk about healing.”
