After three defeats in a row in the league, Brest revived by winning this Saturday at home against Strasbourg with a score of 3-1. The Bretons move up to 10th place in Ligue 1.
Three days after a first setback in the Champions League on the Barcelona pitch with a score of 3-0, Brest returned to business as usual this Saturday with the reception of Strasbourg on the occasion of the 13th day of Ligue 1. Engluées in a bad series of three defeats in a row in the league, both teams had to get back into the league. Despite the sequence of high-level meetings, the Bretons showed themselves to be the most enterprising at the start of the meeting. Guilty of a handball in his own area, Doué conceded a penalty converted without trembling by Lala wrong-footing Petrovic for the opener (1-0, 11th). During a first act totally to the advantage of Eric Roy's team, we had to wait until the end of this first period to see the Bretons double the lead. Taking advantage of the mischief of Baldé who let the ball pass, Pereira Lage, alone in front of goal, deceived Petrovic with a low shot (2-0, 45th+1).
Ajorque misses a penalty, Ouattara gives Racing hope
Upon returning from the locker room, Brest thought it was over. Author of a foul in his area on Haïdara, Sow committed the irreparable by sanctioning his team with a new penalty. Shot by Ajorque, the SB29 center forward saw his attempt rejected by Petrovic, thus preventing the Breton striker from scoring his 50th goal of his career in Ligue 1 (52nd). Taking advantage of their opponent's slump, Strasbourg multiplied the opportunities on Bizot's goal and was rewarded thanks to Ouattara following superb work upstream from Ninasi (2-1, 90th+1). A hope quickly dampened for Racing by Del Castillo a few minutes later thus offering a deserved and valuable success for the Brestois (3-1, 90th + 1). End of series, therefore for Brest which returns to success and climbs to 10th place in the championship. On the other hand, the bad patch continues for Racing with a fourth setback in a row and a 13th place in the standings.
