More than four months after the end of the Olympic Games, Tony Estanguet continues to be talked about. Recently seen with Anne Hidalgo at the time of the annual illumination of the Champs-Élysées for the end of the year, the former sportsman is this week at the heart of the weekly portrait of 50’ Insidepresented by Isabelle Ithurburu. The opportunity for the man who headed the organizing committee for the Paris Olympic Games to talk about his private life, and in particular his life as a father. On Instagram, the teenager’s subscribers learned that he had been suffering from a shoulder injury for several months, forcing him to wear a sling. “It has now been two and a half months since I had shoulder surgery. After several incidents last year, I decided to have surgery at the end of August, after the season”he explained to his virtual community, adding that he had followed an intense rehabilitation program. A job that paid off, since he finally obtained permission to return to training from his surgeon. “C’est reparti let’s go”he wrote in the caption of a publication showing him at different stages of his rehabilitation. After thanking the professionals who accompanied him as well as his loved ones, who were able to support him, it is now time for Titouan Estanguet to return to training!

A family focused on sport

If Titouan follows in his father’s footsteps, he is not the only member of the Estanguet family to have devoted himself to sport, in particular canoe slalom. Patrice Estanguet, the brother of Tony Estanguet, was himself a top athlete alongside his brother. Enough to create a complicated relationship between the two men, sometimes friends and adversaries. “With my brother, we went through all the stages, we were accomplices, but also adversaries, that was the most difficult part.” As a reminder, during the qualification for the Australian Olympic Games in 2000, Tony Estanguet eliminated his brother from the race. “Something like that leaves its mark, we went through some very tough moments of tension. (…) I had to be this competitor capable of beating, including his own brother at the same time, I owed him so much”declared the father of the family Parisian on July 20.
