Tuesday November 26, 2024, two people drowned during their vacation in Diamant, Martinique.
A drama in the Caribbean. A couple of vacationers drowned on the evening of Tuesday, at Le Diamant, in Martinique, reports RCI. They are a 77-year-old woman and an 81-year-old man, whose son resided on the island. Despite the intervention of emergency services on site, the couple could not be saved. They are both deceased.
The alert was issued “around 7:30 p.m. by the Regional Operational Surveillance and Rescue Center (Cross) of the Antilles-Guyana, for two people who were wanted”told RCI the boss of the SNSM du Marin station, Philippe Chabalier. The SNSM rescuers as well as the Dragon 972 helicopter therefore began searching in the evening.
They had disappeared in the afternoon
The woman's body was found on the beach of Anse Cafard, around 8 p.m. while that of the man was recovered offshore. According to Philippe Chabalier, “this is the time between the disappearance of people and the alert given” which was fatal to the victims. The couple disappeared in the afternoon.
