After a morning of deliberation in Rennes, the thirteen members of the jury for the Goncourt des Lycéens prize chose Sandrine Collette as winner for her novel Madeleine before dawn (Lattès). The writer wins against Rebecca Lighieri (The Lost Children's ClubP.O.L), Thibault de Montaigu (CoeurAlbin Michel), Abdellah Taïa (The Bastion of TearsJulliard) and Olivier Norek (The Winter Warriors, Michel Lafon). She succeeds Neige Sinno, awarded last year for sad tiger (P.O.L).
Her book, also a finalist for the Goncourt Prize, follows the story of Madelaine, a wild little girl straight out of the forests and taken in by Ambre, Aelis and old Rose, residents of the hamlet Les Montées.
A bookstore success, 47,227 copies have been sold according to Gfk since its publication on August 21.
The award ceremony will take place this November 28 in the early evening at the Ministry of National Education in Paris.
Created at the initiative of Fnac and the Ministry of National Education, the Goncourt for high school students takes place every year from September to November. It allows some 2,000 students from second to BTS to discover contemporary literature and to promote a taste for reading in their establishments.
