The National Agency for the Safety of Medicines and Health Products prohibits the promotion of illegal therapies in the treatment of cancer. “We have been alerted by our European counterparts of the promotion by the companies Immucura, Immunyo and Iaso Health GmbH of an unauthorized 'dendritic cell immunotherapy' anti-cancer treatment on their websites and social networks”wrote the ANSM in a press release this Thursday. This is a treatment on cells of the immune system which have a major role in warning against attacks.
The ANSM indicates that it has taken “health policy decisions” against these three companies, based in Ireland, Germany and Switzerland. She orders them to end their promotional campaign et calls on affected patients to speak with their oncologist.
No marketing authorization
The incriminated companies tout a revolutionary, financially affordable and non-invasive therapy. They “unfoundedly present their treatment as an effective solution against cancer and as having a very favorable, non-invasive safety profile“since”it would have no adverse effects“. However, dendritic cell therapy used in cancer treatment “has not been subject to marketing authorization in France or Europe”explains the Medicines Agency.
Asked by franceinfoAlexandre de La Volpilière, in charge of operations at ANSM, believes that these therapies are likely to “endanger patients”. “It is important that we can immediately suspend this advertising and prevent patients from turning to this type of therapy which is not evaluated either in France or at European level.”
