Champions League LIVE:

10:04 p.m. – KICK-OFF 2ND HALF – And the ball is rolling again in the stadiums of Europe’s best teams.

9:49 p.m. – HALFTIME – BVB is working at full speed to put their away curse behind them. In the first half, the soapy grass was the biggest problem in the Schwaz-Yellow game. Shortly before halftime, it was Jamie Gittens (41′) who gave Dortmund the lead with a remarkable shot from the edge of the penalty area. If Borussia maintains this performance, success abroad will look good.

Real Madrid has had big problems at Anfield Road so far. Liverpool FC was very dominant and had numerous chances to take the lead. Darwin Nunez had the best chance, but his point-blank finish was brilliantly saved by Thibaut Courtois.

Celtic Glasgow provided the (negative) highlight of the first 45 minutes. Defender Cameron Carter-Vickers lost track of his keeper’s position and his back pass ended up in his own goal. This means that Club Brugge goes into halftime with a lead.

Shakthar Donetzk, OSC and AS Monaco also lead at the break. Aston Villa and Juventus Turin go into the locker room without any goals.

FC Liverpool vs. Real Madrid 0:0

9:01 p.m. – KICK-OFF – The late shift of the 5th matchday of the Champions League on Wednesday evening has begun. From a German perspective, the two highlights are certainly BVB’s appearance at Dinamo Zagreb and the guest appearance of the Royals from Madrid at the Reds from Liverpool. But today’s football evening has even more to offer.

8:53 p.m. – Sahin optimistic – Borussia Dortmund has a miserable away record. Coach Nuri Sahin was nevertheless confident before the game on the DAZN microphone. Him and his team “We came from a very good moment and, in my opinion, have taken this momentum with us”. In preparation for the game, the team gave the impression that “things are looking up”. The goal for tonight is therefore quite clearly defined: “We want to take the next step in the Champions League!” An away win would be a big step towards the round of 16.

8:42 p.m. – FINAL WHISTLE – That was probably nothing! VfB Stuttgart goes completely wrong in their away game at Red Star Belgrade after taking a 1-0 lead. The Serbian capital club, which has not yet been able to win a point, completely led the runner-up from the previous season.

Sebastian Hoeneß’s team had big plans in the second half, but the 2-1 deficit turned into an embarrassing 5-1 defeat. VfB now absolutely has to score points from the last two games in order to reach the second round. To the match report

Sturm Graz achieved a respectable success. The Austrian champions beat the surprise team from last LaLiga season 1-0. It is the Austrians’ first win this Champions League season.

8:12 p.m. – Real have to replace Vini and Rodrygo – Real Madrid will have to do without their best wingers for their visit to Anfield Road. Arda Güler and Brahim Díaz start for the two Brazilians. Fede Valverde has to help out at the back right again and the young Raul Asencio starts alongside Antonio Rüdiger in central defense.

Liverpool FC rests Trent Alexander-Arnold and does without Dominik Szoboszlai. Conor Bradley and Curtis Jones will play at the start of the game. Luis Díaz, Mo Salah and Darwin Núñez will try to challenge the newly formed Real defense.

Lineups Liverpool vs. Real MadridFlashscore

7:53 p.m. – Guirassy is missing from BVB – The Guinean caught an infection on an international trip and is not yet fully fit, but he should be available as a substitute. As was the case last time in the Bundesliga against SC Freiburg (4-0), Maximilian Beier plays at the forefront, while Pascal Groß replaces Julian Ryerson at the back on the right. The lineup at a glance:

7:50 p.m. – KICK-OFF 2ND HALF – Moving on, how does VfB react to this bitter pill that was given to them. The equalizer through our own loanee, Silas, was a real low blow.

7:34 p.m. – HALFTIME – After a quick goal from Ermedin Demirovic, the home team in Belgrade managed to turn the match around before the break. How does VfB respond to this double blow in the second half? Meanwhile, not much has happened in Carinthia – Sturm Graz is the passive team in this duel, so they can be happy with the 0-0 score at halftime.

6:45 p.m. – KICK-OFF – Here we go for the Swabians, the ball is now rolling in Carinthia too – Sturm Graz is playing its Champions League matches in the Wörthersee Stadium.

6:20 p.m. – Even before the game starts there is chaos in Belgrade. Fans are stopped at the border and turn back, others are beaten up in the city center. More about this in the special article.

5:49 p.m. – And this is how it goes for VfB Stuttgart on the pitch today during their guest appearance in Belgrade:

5:35 p.m. – Sturm Graz goes into the home game against Girona today with the following line-up. The Styrian club shows its team in a creative way.

Preliminary reports on Dortmund and Stuttgart

Dortmund has no Eiffel Tower, no royal palace and no late Gothic cathedral. “We are not a cosmopolitan city,” said Hans-Joachim Watzke before the game at Dinamo Zagreb in his call for new BVB solidarity. “But,” he called out to the members, “we’ve just come out of the Champions League final! There are only world metropolises around us – London, Milan, Madrid!” He added bitterly: “We’ve been there for 20 years. And no one is proud of it anymore.” More info

VfB Stuttgart is under pressure in the Champions League – but the sporting value of the landmark game at Red Star Belgrade initially took a back seat for the Swabians given the explosive circumstances. For the VfB fans traveling with them, but also for striker Ermedin Demirovic, the duel on Wednesday (6.45 p.m./DAZN) against the Serbs will be a high-risk game. More info

On the other hand, gray clouds hung over Milan when Marco Rose and his players once again had to travel home empty-handed. The early exit in the Champions League is getting closer and closer, but the coach tried to exude confidence immediately after the next bitter defeat: “We will stand together and get through this phase, I’m very sure of that” – but the pressure on the coach is increasing. For the third German participant from yesterday, Florian Wirtz was once again the man of the evening. The youngster accepted the Man-of-the-Match trophy from team-mate Jeremie Frimpong with a broad grin before Bayer Leverkusen’s magic foot was showered with praise. Watching the 21-year-old play was “a pleasure,” said Granit More info
