10:04 p.m. – KICK-OFF 2ND HALF – And the ball is rolling again in the stadiums of Europe’s best teams.
9:49 p.m. – HALFTIME – BVB is working at full speed to put their away curse behind them. In the first half, the soapy grass was the biggest problem in the Schwaz-Yellow game. Shortly before halftime, it was Jamie Gittens (41′) who gave Dortmund the lead with a remarkable shot from the edge of the penalty area. If Borussia maintains this performance, success abroad will look good.
Real Madrid has had big problems at Anfield Road so far. Liverpool FC was very dominant and had numerous chances to take the lead. Darwin Nunez had the best chance, but his point-blank finish was brilliantly saved by Thibaut Courtois.
Celtic Glasgow provided the (negative) highlight of the first 45 minutes. Defender Cameron Carter-Vickers lost track of his keeper’s position and his back pass ended up in his own goal. This means that Club Brugge goes into halftime with a lead.
Shakthar Donetzk, OSC Lille and AS Monaco also lead at the break. Aston Villa and Juventus Turin go into the locker room without any goals.

9:01 p.m. – KICK-OFF – The late shift of the 5th matchday of the Champions League on Wednesday evening has begun. From a German perspective, the two highlights are certainly BVB’s appearance at Dinamo Zagreb and the guest appearance of the Royals from Madrid at the Reds from Liverpool. But today’s football evening has even more to offer.
8:53 p.m. – Sahin optimistic – Borussia Dortmund has a miserable away record. Coach Nuri Sahin was nevertheless confident before the game on the DAZN microphone. Him and his team “We came from a very good moment and, in my opinion, have taken this momentum with us”. In preparation for the game, the team gave the impression that “things are looking up”. The goal for tonight is therefore quite clearly defined: “We want to take the next step in the Champions League!” An away win would be a big step towards the round of 16.

Liverpool FC rests Trent Alexander-Arnold and does without Dominik Szoboszlai. Conor Bradley and Curtis Jones will play at the start of the game. Luis Díaz, Mo Salah and Darwin Núñez will try to challenge the newly formed Real defense.
7:53 p.m. – Guirassy is missing from BVB – The Guinean caught an infection on an international trip and is not yet fully fit, but he should be available as a substitute. As was the case last time in the Bundesliga against SC Freiburg (4-0), Maximilian Beier plays at the forefront, while Pascal Groß replaces Julian Ryerson at the back on the right. Preliminary reports on Dortmund and Stuttgart
Dortmund has no Eiffel Tower, no royal palace and no late Gothic cathedral. “We are not a cosmopolitan city,” said Hans-Joachim Watzke before the game at Dinamo Zagreb in his call for new BVB solidarity. “But,” he called out to the members, “we’ve just come out of the Champions League final! VfB Stuttgart is under pressure in the Champions League – but the sporting value of the landmark game at Red Star Belgrade initially took a back seat for the Swabians given the explosive circumstances.
