France Nature Environnement (FNE) denounces actions carried out by farmers who targeted environmental protection collectives, this Wednesday, November 27, 2024, indicates theAFP.
For more than a week, agricultural unions have been organizing demonstrations to denounce standards perceived as “impediments” and against the draft treaty between the European Union and the Mercosur countries.
“This violence is intolerable in a state of law,” insists the federation of associations for the protection of nature and the environment in France.
Dumped waste, a walled-up room…
The president of the FNE, Antoine Gatet, indicated that demonstrators walled up the FNE 05 premises in Gap (Hautes-Alpes), while employees and volunteers were inside.
In Manche, a complaint will be filed after activists from Rural Coordination dumped garbage in front of the premises of the Manche nature association, in Coutances.
In Châteauroux, in Indre, another complaint was filed after an action by demonstrators from the FNSEA, who dumped straw in front of the premises of the Indre nature association. When the employees took refuge upstairs, farmers climbed into tractor baskets to drum against the shutters, according to FNE.
“A double standard to the detriment of environmental associations”
“We are the first to defend freedom of demonstration and expression, but it does not involve threats, violence and hate speech, emphasized Antoine Gatet. Imagine three young environmental activists who start to do the same. We denounce the double standards which are applied to the detriment of environmental associations. »
