6:00 NEWSCAST. WE’RE LOOKING FORWARD TO SEEING HOW EVERYONE DECORATES. MORE WIND AND SNOW IN SPOTS. CHIEF METEOROLOGIST JOE DIAZ SHOWS US WHERE. THAT’S RIGHT. WE HAD A COOLER DAY ACROSS THE REGION. THE WINDS ARE GOING TO COME UP A BIT TOMORROW AND THAT WILL KICK THE TEMPERATURES UP. BUT MOST OF THE SNOW WILL BE ACROSS THE NORTHERN PART OF THE STATE NEAR THE COLORADO STATE LINE. BUT THOSE STRONG WINDS ARE GOING TO START TO KICK UP OVER THE EASTERN SLOPES OF THE CENTRAL MOUNTAIN CHAIN. I’LL SHOW YOU THAT. BUT DRIER, COLDER AIR MOVING IN FOR THE START OF THE HOLIDAY WEEKEND. THERE YOU SEE A LITTLE BIT OF MOISTURE WORKING TOWARD THE FOUR CORNERS REGION, AND THAT WILL BE IN PLAY AGAIN FOR TOMORROW. BUT REALLY OVER THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS, THE RAINFALL AMOUNTS LOOK TO BE RATHER LIGHT. MORE OF A FOCUS ALONG THAT COLORADO STATE LINE. SNOW WISE, THE BRUNT OF THIS IS GOING TO FALL FROM THE MOUNTAINS AROUND CHAMA ON INTO SOUTHWESTERN MOUNTAINS OF COLORADO. THAT’S WHERE WINTER WEATHER ADVISORIES WINTER STORM WARNINGS IN PLAY, 5 TO 10IN THE MOUNTAINS AROUND CHAMA. MORE THAN THAT IN THE HIGHER TERRAIN THROUGHOUT SOUTHWESTERN COLORADO. THEN TOMORROW NIGHT INTO WEDNESDAY MORNING, THESE WINDS ARE GOING TO COME OFF THE CENTRAL MOUNTAIN CHAIN AND GUSTS UP TO 6065 MILES. AN HOUR FROM LAS VEGAS. SANTA ROSA ON INTO CLINES CORNERS. AND HERE’S A LOOK AT THE WIND PROJECTIONS. 4:00 IN THE MORNING ON WEDNESDAY. AND YEAH, ALL THOSE RED AREAS, THOSE ARE STRONG WINDS. NOW, AS WE CHECK OUT YOUR FORECAST FOR TOMORROW, 36 DEGREES, WE’LL GET INTO THE MID 60S AGAIN FOR TOMORROW WITH THOSE SOUTHWESTERLY BREEZES KICKING IN. THOSE ARE WARM BREEZES FOR US. SO WE’RE LOOKING FOR THOSE TEMPERATURES TO INCREASE 7:00 IN THE MORNING. SOME RAIN AND SNOW MIXES AROUND THE FOUR CORNERS REGION. THAT WILL STAY IN PLAY THROUGHOUT THE AFTERNOON. STRONGER WINDS ALONG THE EASTERN SLOPES. AS WE WERE SHOWING YOU. AND THEN WE GET ON INTO THE FRONT, COMES ON THROUGH, TEMPERATURES DROP NORTHERN PARTS OF NEW MEXICO. SO REALLY SPOTTY RAIN AND SNOW SHOWERS AROUND, BUT THE WINDS WILL BE OUT OF THE WEST AND START TO BE ON THE INCREASE THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE STATE BEFORE WINDS START TO LOWER, TEMPERATURES PLUNGE AS WE GET ON INTO THANKSGIVING ITSELF. NOW YOU’RE GOING TO SEE THAT REFLECTED IN THE VARIOUS SEVEN DAY FORECAST AROUND THE STATE. SO OFF AND ON, RAIN AND SNOW SHOWERS AROUND THE FOUR CORNERS REGION WILL BE IN THE 50S TO 60S FROM GALLUP ON INTO GRANTS. RAIN SHOWERS INCREASING A BIT FOR WEDNESDAY. BUT LOOK AT THE COLD READINGS 23 AND 41 FOR THANKSGIVING AND FARMINGTON WILL BE IN THE 70S FROM SOCORRO ON INTO LORDSBURG, DEMING, LAS CRUCES. SO TEMPERATURES INCREASE THROUGH WEDNESDAY AND THEN WE GET TO THURSDAY AND LOWER DAYTIME HIGHS. BUT STILL A PRETTY GOOD HOLIDAY WEEKEND. SOUTHEASTERN PARTS OF THE STATE WILL BE WARMING INTO THE 70S, 61 OVER IN RUIDOSO, AND WE’RE WARMING TO NEAR 80 DEGREES IN ROSWELL. AND THEN TEMPERATURES PLUNGE NEARLY 30 DEGREES. SO A BIG TURNAROUND. BUT AGAIN, IT LOOKS LIKE WE’LL HAVE A MIXTURE OF CLOUDS AND SUNSHINE AND DRY SKIES THROUGHOUT THE AREA. GUSTS 60 TO 65 MILES AN HOUR FROM THE EAST MOUNTAINS INTO NORTHEASTERN PARTS OF THE STATE. A HIGH WIND WATCH THROUGHOUT MANY AREAS. WINDS NOT QUITE AS STRONG, BUT STILL GUSTY, WITH SOME OFF AND ON RAIN AND SNOW MIXES ACROSS THE AREA. THEN THERE’S THAT COLD START FOR THANKSGIVING. THE NORTHERN MOUNTAINS WILL BE IN THE 40S AND 50S FROM CHAMA ON INTO TAOS, SO THE SNOW WOULD BE RATHER LIGHT AROUND CHAMA. PROBABLY AN INCH OR TWO. MOST OF THAT WILL BE ACROSS THE HIGHER TERRAIN AS WE’RE SHOWING YOU, AND THEN RAIN SHOWERS WITH MOSTLY CLOUDY SKIES SCATTERED IN SANTA FE FOR WEDNESDAY, AND THEN 25 AND A HIGH OF 40 FOR THANKSGIVING DAY. AND THE METRO AREA WILL HAVE THAT COLD START ON THE DAY AND THEN TEMPERATURES IN THE AFTERNOON WITH THE BREEZY CONDITIONS WILL BE WELL ABOVE AVERAGE AGAIN AS WE WARM ON INTO THE 60S. SO THE SEVEN DAY FORECAST CHECKS OUT LIKE THIS MID 60S FOR TOMORROW. IT WILL BE BREEZY AND COOLER WITH SOME SPOT RAIN OR MOUNTAIN SNOW SHOWERS AROUND THE COOLER AIR WILL BE ESTABLISHED STARTING OFF AT FREEZING ON THANKSGIVING. A HIGH OF 50 AND THEN DRY SKIES WITH MILDER DAYTIME HIGHS AS WE GET INTO BLACK FRIDAY ON INTO THE END OF THE HOLIDAY WEEKEND. SO GUSTY FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS AND THEN DRY AND QUIET, BUT
