Accomplices and touching, Mickaël and Nadia have established themselves as one of the star couples of the 19th season of Love is in the meadow. Near Gala.frthey agreed to come back to their adventure and in particular their engagement.
A happy ending as we like them. As soon as his portrait was broadcast, Mickaël moved viewers Love is in the meadow . Faced with Karine Le Marchand, the dairy cow breeder spoke openly about the death of his wife Nathalie, who died of illness. The Breton then found himself raising his two children alone, Aristide and Esmeralda, aged five years and eight months at the time. An upright and touching man, the farmer therefore put his sentimental life on hold to devote himself fully to the education of his children. The latter are now flying on their own, the man who has only had one relationship since the disappearance of his wife wanted to meet his soul mate thanks to the 19th season of the show.
After receiving numerous letters and experiencing a speed-dating event full of emotions, the 56-year-old from Morbihan invited Rozeen and Nadia to his home. Throughout the stay, the latter was able to conquer the heart of the 1.93 meter farmer. Since their first kiss and a romantic weekend in Austria, the couple made a big decision by moving in together. And in a few months, they will write a new chapter in their history. During the assessment, Mickaël asked for the hand of his beloved. A nice surprise on which they agreed to come back to Gala.fr, while recalling their memories in Love is in the meadow.
Gala.fr: What do you remember from the adventure Love is in the Meadow?
Michael : Full of happiness (laughs). We are very happy to have shared it. When you find love at the end of the adventure, it's still the most beautiful thing.
If your children hadn't signed you up, would you have done it yourself?
Michael : No, I can really thank my children. Without them, I would not have taken the initiative to do it.
During the assessment you made a nice surprise by asking for Nadia's hand. Since when did you have this idea in mind?
Michael : (laughs) This question started to cross my mind when we returned from Tyrol (in Austria). Right from the start, anyway. I prepared things anyway. When I had to choose the ring, I took advantage of her birthday to give her a set. I was able to find out the size of his finger. That was the first thing. Then, little by little, I told myself that I couldn't ask for her hand like that. So I constructed my text quietly.
What does marriage mean to you?
Michael : This is something important in relation to my values. I wanted to experience real love. I said to myself that the bonds of marriage are something magnificent. Even though we are not married yet, I introduce her as my wife. It's something very strong for me. Wedding is a time when we bring together family and close friends. It is a very important festive moment.
Nadia : I am less attached to its traditional values. But this is proof of a real commitment, of my love and my loyalty for Mickaël.
Have you consulted your children?
Michael : No. I made my decision alone. My children were very kind to sign me up for the show but I did what I wanted to build. I really wanted to offer the most beautiful proof of love to Nadia. Our families even learned it at the same time as you.
Nadia, did you expect this request?
Nadia : At the moment, not at all! I knew that for Mickaël it was very important but I didn't think he was going to ask me to marry him during the assessment. It was a big surprise.
Mickaël, you were married for the first time to the mother of your children, who died following an illness. Wasn't it too hard to make this request?
Michael : Exactly, yes. My life stopped at one point. Actually, I can't totally say that. This is something that has been really difficult to accept. When this happened, I gave all my time to my children and devoted myself to my work to grieve.
Nadia : I have respect for the memory and past history of Mickaël. It is important for me that he projects himself into the present and the future. I want that memory to exist but it’s not something we reference regularly.
Michael : Yes, we must move forward.
“I fell in love with Nadia at speed dating”
Back to your speed dating, what memories do you have of it?
Michael : It’s a very strong moment. That's where I discovered Nadia, saw her and discovered lots of things about her. I fell in love with her when I saw her get off the pontoon and she came towards me. I really felt something in that moment.
Nadia : It was a suspended moment. I felt like there was nothing around us. Immediately, something happened in our eyes and our energies. I was certain that this was my path. I was in the right place at the right time.
Rozeen was also present for the farm stay. Were there any little rivalries between you?
Nadia : For my part, I didn't show any particular rivalry. Rozeen was less comfortable than me. She didn't have confidence in herself, therefore she was more defensive. Afterwards, it's true that the show showed a bit of rivalry and character differences. But in reality, there was no concrete rivalry.
To announce your final choice, you did it in an unexpected way by offering gifts to everyone. For what ?
Mickäel : (laughs) It's very simple. I didn't agree with the idea of giving them a bouquet of flowers when they arrived. When I announced my choice, something which is not obvious, I wanted to soften the pain of the other contender. And then, I wanted to put women back on a pedestal. I find it very important. When we do the show, we know that one will be kept and the other not. This can be denigrating. I really wanted it to come out even bigger.
How did you feel after Rozeen left?
Nadia : We were freed to find ourselves together again, to experience new things and to get to know each other.
Michael : We were no longer on detention. We really started to get closer.
You then met his son Léo, who validated your relationship. Was it important to you that he approved of this relationship?
Michael : It was important because if Léo had not accepted me, it would have been complicated for the rest of our relationship. It makes things even more so because my children have accepted Nadia.
Nadia : It was a match straight away between Léo and Mickaël. I appreciate my son telling me to go for it. Although I don't need his 100% approval either, I would have experienced my story differently if he hadn't approved of it. It's a thousand times stronger with my son behind me.
“It’s a joy every day!”
In September, you took a big step by moving in together. Was it obvious?
Nadia : I couldn't imagine a long-distance relationship. I made sure to organize myself from a professional point of view to join Mickaël fairly quickly.
Michael : If she hadn't moved in, I wouldn't have been able to ask for her hand (laughs). If she hadn't made this decision, that meant she wasn't ready.
What is your life like together?
Nadia : It’s a joy every day!
Michael : Meal times are very important. We take the time to have lunch and dinner together. This is something I didn't know. It's very nice.
Has Mickaël managed to make room for you in his wardrobe, he who has quite a collection of clothes?
Nadia : He did it very quickly. It was even the first thing he did when I arrived home for the weekend. I found the gesture very beautiful. He opened his house to me and welcomed me like a princess.
You have been defined as the “gentleman farmer”. What do you think?
Michael : (laughs) And yes, that's the image I was given with the show. I find it a beautiful image because it is both respect for my personality and respect for my profession.
The show is about love but also friendship. Have you made connections with other farmers?
Michael : We made connections with all the farmers in season 19. It’s going really well. It's very beautiful and I think it's something that will develop over time. Besides, they will be present at our wedding.
What can we wish you for the future?
Michael : What happiness. As for the wedding, we know where it's going to happen. For now, we have ideas but we don't yet know what our wedding will look like. Besides, it's too early to talk about it. And then we're going to take a trip.
Nadia : We're both going to go out into the sun!
