A computer bug has affected Outlook email and the Teams application since Monday morning.
The American company Microsoft declared in the middle of the day that it had identified the cause of the outage.
Thousands of workers… technically unemployed. Since Monday morning, a major computer outage has paralyzed or disrupted access to Outlook email, particularly from a web browser, across the entire European continent. The preferred hypothesis to explain these malfunctions is that of a technical bug, and not of a cyberattack.
“We are investigating an issue that affects users trying to access Exchange Online or Microsoft Teams Calendar features. Access to your mailboxes from webmail such as the Outlook heavy client may be disrupted, or even impossible.“, recognized the American company Microsoft in a message (new window) posted on the social network
Microsoft claims to have identified the cause of the problem
The first reports on Downdetector (new window)a platform that lists all outages reported by users, occurred around 8:30 a.m. On social networks, many users have reported having difficulty using these services, with an error message appearing on their screen.
In the middle of the day, the American giant indicated that it had identified the cause of this computer bug. “We have identified a recent change that we believe has had an impact. We have begun to reverse the change and are investigating additional actions needed to mitigate the issue“, the company then said.
