The injured man, aged 15, was slightly injured by a pair of scissors during an argument, and transferred to hospital without his life being in danger.
A 16-year-old high school student was taken into custody on charges of attempted murder after injuring a student in his class with scissors on Monday morning in Bourg-en-Bresse (Ain), we learned from the parquet. The victim was hit in the face and one arm, but was not life-threatening, but had to be hospitalized, according to prosecutor Karine Malara.
“The investigation will have to determine the motive for the facts as well as the personality of the author” of the attack, an isolated foreign minor, living in a shelter, aged 16, she specified. The scissor blows were carried out following an argument which broke out before 10 a.m. in a second class at the Edgar Quinet high school for an unknown reason, the rectorate had previously indicated.
Firefighters said they quickly intervened with the injured man, aged 15. Students in the class receive specific support within the establishment, which remains open on Monday, according to a press release from the prefecture.
The president of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region Fabrice Pannekoucke (LR) and the rector of the academy announced that they would go there during the day. The Edgar Quinet high school, located in the center of Bourg-en-Bresse, is a public establishment which has around 1,300 high school and BTS students.
