Storm Bert is blowing through our departments this Monday morning. Violent gusts were recorded overnight and the wind is not expected to weaken until early afternoon.
Météo-France, which placed several departments, including Rhône, Ain, Jura, Loire and Haute-Loire, on orange alert during the night from Sunday to Monday, thus recorded 105 km/h in Chalmazel in the Loire (where 118 km/h was reached on Sunday afternoon), 116 km/h in Puy-en-Velay (Haute-Loire) and up to 134 km/h in Les Sauvages (Rhône).

According to Météo-France, “the southerly wind should reach its peak during the morning in Auvergne and rather at midday in the west of Rhône-Alpes”: “the gusts will reach 100-110 km/h, in the Limagne plain, in the Haute-Loire valleys, in the Roanne plain, in the Ain plain, from eastern Lyon to Isère Rhône, (…) sometimes 120 km/h in certain sectors”.
Trains at a standstill
“In order to guarantee the safety of travelers and staff”, the SNCF announced on Sunday evening the interruption of traffic on several lines, for the entire day of Monday for some.
Particularly concerned: Lyon- Saint-Etienne – Le Puy en Velay / Saint-Etienne-Roanne – Montbrison / Lyon-Roanne-Clermont / Lyon – Paray-le-Monial / Lyon – Saint-André-le-Gaz- Grenoble / Lyon Saint Paul – L’Arbresle -Tassin-Lozanne-Brignais.
The Métropole de Lyon is also calling on cyclists to be extra vigilant, as gusts of 95.4 km/h were recorded by the Lyon-Bron station.

A calm is expected in Auvergne from midday. The rest of the region will have to wait until the afternoon, or even early evening for the Gier valley.
Météo-France only plans to lift its orange alert at 6 p.m. and should maintain a yellow vigilance until around 9 p.m.
