An inviting day to stay at home and maybe only go out in the afternoon — DNOTICIAS.PT

The weather forecast for this Sunday, November 24, 2024, is uninviting (and recommended) for walks, as many Madeirans like to do on Sundays. Lots of rain since the early hours of the morning, as IPMA warned – including orange and yellow warnings, at least until 3pm -, making it clear that this is the day that makes people most want to stay at home, for those who can.

The Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) raised the precipitation level for the island of Madeira to orange warning, which will be in effect from 3 am on Sunday morning and will last until 9 am on the same day. During this period, the IPMA predicts rain, sometimes heavy, turning into showers, which may be accompanied by thunderstorms.

So much so that notices were issued by the Captaincy, Civil Protection and IFCN.

The yellow warning issued by the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) due to the heavy rain forecast for this Sunday has been extended.

Therefore, according to IPMA, expect very cloudy skies, periods of rain, being strong and persistent until the end of the morning, gradually changing to showers. There is still the possibility of thunderstorms.

As for the wind, it will be moderate to strong (25 to 45 km/h) from the southwest, with gusts up to
75 km/h, being strong (35 to 55 km/h) in the highlands, with gusts of up to 100 km/h, becoming weak to moderate (10 to 30 km/h) in the western quadrant from the early afternoon .

A small drop in temperature is expected, especially in the highlands.

The Institute of Forests and Nature Conservation (IFCN) “advises against any travel or the practice of any activity in forest and natural spaces, taking into account the forecast for tomorrow and whenever a weather alert is in force”, announces a note press broadcast this evening.
