Highlights
– Morning frost with ice on snowy areas
– strong wind in the Mediterranean this morning
– snow showers in the north-west quarter, without any particular consequences
Matin
After the passage of the Caetano depression, the cold engulfed a major part of the country, but calm returned. However, a few showers are circulating over the northwest quarter in unstable air between Normandy and the IDF. Elsewhere, clearings return, particularly in the south, except in the Pyrenean foothills where showers block the relief. The wind is still blowing strongly near Corsica, up to 150 km/h early in the morning on Cap Corse.
The temperatures are still very contrasting: -3°C in Dijon at daybreak compared to 14°C already in Ajaccio.
Afternoon
The showers continue in the northeast quarter in a wintry atmosphere with cold temperatures for the season (between 3 and 4°C below normal). In the south, the weather remains dry with Nice clearings, except on the Aquitaine coast with a few clouds carrying showers. In the Mediterranean, the atmosphere is spring-like with sunshine and softness. On the western half, calm returns with beautiful clearings.
Temperatures range from just 3°C at the best of the day in Strasbourg, compared to 15°C in Nice and Ajaccio under clear sunshine.
Soirée
Calm weather is spreading across the entire territory. It is cool or even cold in the north, but mild in the south. New high clouds are approaching Finistère.
Further trend
A brutal mild spell is expected for your weekend, with a strong southerly wind near the English Channel. We will go from winter to spring everywhere in just 48 hours.
