From BFMTV, the Doubs prefecture indicates that hundreds of heavy goods vehicles were blocked on the A36 near Montbéliard due to the snow that fell during the passage of the Caetano storm. Around a hundred light vehicles were also trapped.
A long line of trucks. A huge traffic jam formed on Thursday, November 21 in the evening on the A36, due to snowfall caused by storm Caetano. At the height of the episode, up to 800 trucks were stuck, as well as around a hundred light vehicles, in the Montbéliard sector. And many heavy goods vehicles are still stuck early this Friday, November 22. “The situation is improving little by little,” indicates the Doubs prefecture.
The situation began to deteriorate around 5 p.m. this Thursday. Trucks crossed the highway, or on the emergency lane, for a stretch of 20 kilometers.
The gendarmerie and motorway services were deployed to clear the lanes, but these operations take a long time due to the weather conditions. In the area, school transport will be suspended until at least noon, the prefecture announced on X.
