The least we can say is that the year spent at Reconquest was particularly trying, between tensions, departures and two successive elections. How are you doing?
Sarah Knafo : As you see! I have nothing to complain about. I fight because I have to fight and I like doing what I have to do.
Your party split in two in June, but the hard core, quite young in fact, remained. How did you experience both these departures and these loyalties?
To say that the party has “split in two” is inaccurate. Four people betrayed us, the day after their election, that's all. It already seems so far away! When we look back, we see that the only ones who left are those who joined us only once all the work was done: the party was already created, the 130,000 members were already there, the program was already built, the digital strike power was already built, the largest fundraising in the history of the Fifth Republic had already been achieved.
Professional politicians came when we were high in the polls, and they left as soon as they thought that the RN was going to take Matignon. Obviously, they don't bring luck! (laughter) Seriously, we understand better what drives them… And we learn! Conversely, what gives hope to the middle of this political world is all the others. It’s much more than “the hard core”, it’s the whole fruit! The whole team that made the beginnings successful, all the executives and activists. Then we have welcomed new extraordinary profiles since then. Three years later, we are more seasoned, we have overcome many challenges: we are better.
