Very soon, Teddy Riner and Luthana Plocus will host a new show: “Love is Blind”, according to information from “Parisien” this November 21. A French adaptation of the American reality show which has been a hit on Netflix since 2020.
From the tatami, Teddy Riner moved to the film sets. The man who is considered the greatest judoka of all time has a rather unexpected project, at the dawn of his 36th birthday. For several days, rumors have been circulating of an adaptation of the Netflix series which is a hit in the United States, “Love is Blind”. But we still did not know the identity of the star couple responsible for ensuring its presentation. And it is ultimately up to Teddy Riner and his wife Luthna Plocus to carry out this task, according to information from “Parisien”, shared this November 21. An astonishing adventure for the five-time Gold medalist, including two obtained at the Olympic Games this summer, more accustomed to mishandling kimonos than to hosting a show.
This reality show, based on a social experiment, has a simple goal: single people try to find their soul mate… blindly! After making their choice, without having seen the face of the one they love, they must decide on their future together. A program which has been a big success since 2020, and which has already been adapted abroad, notably in Mexico, Japan, Germany, the United Arab Emirates, and in many other countries.

The engaged couple filming in Morocco
If the broadcast of the French version, produced by “ITV Studios”, is not planned before 2025, the time has already come for filming. The French Judo star and his partner since 2013, with whom he had two children, Eden and Ysis in 2014 and 2018, set sail for Morocco. A country surely chosen to host the suitors' honeymoon, one of the last stops for the most determined candidates. Previously, Teddy Riner and Luthana Plocus had taken a detour to Sweden with the rest of the team, where the lofts housing the candidates are located.

This reconversion is, however, not a first for the judoka who, in 2019, hosted “The Race of Champions”, a chase between an amateur runner and a real champion. With his 2.04 m height and his collection of medals, the athlete will embody an unusual Cupid but, without a doubt, memorable.
