When the Sportpaleis?it is a question that Pommelien Thijs has regularly had on her plate over the past two years. And now, a week after she started a mysterious countdown clock on her social media, the 23-year-old singer has an answer: on April 23 and 24, 2026 she will perform solo in the Antwerp music temple for the first time. “I am extremely grateful that I can do this, at my own pace,” he said. “It’s not yet next month, and that just gives me peace. I can take those two shows into a big story of things to come. Now that feels very right to me. A year ago you would not have done me any favors with the Sportpaleis. I felt that I had and still have to walk some more kilometers. Thijs is certainly no stranger to the Sportpaleis. Since 2022, she has appeared annually with the cast #LikeMelast year she sang her own songs for the first time as part of Bazart’s Echo Festival. Those who were there already knew it by then: it couldn’t be long before those first solo shows. In a short time, the singer and her band have grown into a much-loved live act: the victorious tour of the festivals – Pukkelpop, anyone? – was the icing on the cake last year.
“The Sportpaleis remains something special,” says Thijs. “I have been lucky enough to be there regularly with other projects, and the energy there is special. I’m really looking forward to developing a show on such a large scale. You can do visually cool things with dance, clothes, sets… your resources just become much greater. We are going to do everything we can to bring the energy from the small halls, the energy that we love so much, there.”
