Storm Caetano causes damage Thursday November 21, 2024 in Saint-Nazaire and -Atlantique.

Falling trees bent by the wind cause road closures or the cessation of train traffic.

And sometimes they fall on vehicles.

In Saint-Nazaire, Martine was the victim of this twist of fate.

Around 2 p.m., as the winds increased in violence, his Citroën DS was crushed by a falling plane tree on Boulevard de la Fraternité.

The owner was opposite, at her workstation, behind the newsagent counter on the weekend.

“It was my colleague, on break, who warned me. Last year, the same mishap happened to him, on the sidewalk opposite! », she is surprised.

This resident of the Immaculée district is distraught.

“I can't do anything until the tree is cut down. But City services must be overwhelmed. »

The roof of his vehicle is sunk in at the back, a window broken, at the mercy of bad weather.

“A brand new car. The previous one was burned a year ago in front of the sub-prefecture,” sighs the Nazairian, decidedly unlucky.

The green space services of the municipality of the naval city are indeed at the oven and the mill, from the waterfront to the landscaped park where other trees have fallen.

A few meters further, another fell right next to the children's games.

In Pontchâteau, the prefecture announces that the roof of the Frida Kahlo college “has flown away”.

“The Special Safety Plan (PPMS) was activated and the schoolchildren were made safe,” specifies the Loire-Atlantique prefecture.
