On Thursday, November 21, the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued arrest warrants targeting Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Israeli Defense Minister, Yoav Gallant, who was dismissed from the government in early November. These warrants were issued “for crimes against humanity and war crimes committed from at least October 8, 2023 and until at least May 20, 2024″explains the court in a press release.
The Court also issued an arrest warrant for the head of the armed wing of Hamas, Mohammed Deif, whose death the Israeli army nevertheless announced in August. This warrant was issued “for alleged crimes against humanity and war crimes committed in the territory of the State of Israel and the State of Palestine since at least October 7, 2023”details the ICC in a separate press release.
