The Brazilian National Team and Real Madrid winger, Vinicius Junior, gave an interview to CBF TV where he discussed his fight against racism, the pressures he faces in his career and the work carried out by coach Dorival Júnior.
About the Fight Against Racism
“In the last three months, we have managed to put three or four individuals behind bars and hold them accountable for the crimes they committed. We are on the right track. I play in Spain, where I suffered a lot and still suffer occasionally, but certainly less, thanks to everyone’s efforts the clubs and everyone who works tirelessly to combat racism, like the CBF does.”
About Pressure and Challenges in Your Career
“I have lived with pressure since birth, as I come from a very dangerous place where I faced many difficulties, and achieving professionalism at Flamengo was incredibly difficult. At just 16 years old, I reached the first team and experienced many ups and downs. It’s the even with the national team. There are many ups and downs, but I constantly strive to progress and do great things for our country. Difficulties will certainly arise, but as I said, I have faced many challenges and I want to do everything possible to help lead the way. Brazil back at the top, alongside my teammates, the coaching staff and the entire team.”
About the Reformulation of the National Team Cast
“I think it’s normal to refresh the squad after each World Cup cycle. Many players change due to age or decisions by the new coach. We need to move forward together, as our main objective is to take Brazil back to the top in a year and a half, where we always belonged.”
About Dorival Júnior’s work
“The coach is doing an excellent job. Of course, there are ups and downs, but that is normal, as our team is very young. We are still learning how to play in knockout matches, achieve great results and be prepared for our main objective — winning the World Cup. I hope the coach continues to instill confidence in us, continues to work hard and we will absorb his lessons in the best possible way,” Vinicius said. TMW.
