Conor McGregor isn’t one to sit back and let others handle the spotlight. Instead of hiding behind closed doors, he’s out in the world, making sure his label gets the attention it deserves. In true McGregor style, he’s been personally promoting ‘Been a Long Time’ by Xzibit, bringing the music straight to the people through his hands-on approach.
According to a series of posts on Instagram shared by HotFreestyle, “You know Conor McGregor’s artists are in good hands when he’s out there promoting them himself”. The video shows McGregor taking to the streets and imploring the viewers, “Let’s go ladies and gentleman, new Xzibit out now. On YouTube, ‘Been a Long Time”.
He then walks up to a car and asks the driver to play the song on his YouTube or any other major platform before carrying on his promotional walk. The former UFC ‘champ-champ’s energy was palpable as he hit the streets, making sure that his artist’s work didn’t just get a listen—it got a story.
But why would someone like McGregor, whose name is synonymous with the UFC, take on the competitive, often chaotic world of music? In a statement during the launch of ‘Greenback Records’, the Irish MMA icon stated, “I am excited to create Ireland’s first major record label, in an industry that I have had great interest in for some time, To be able to come in and offer music artists a fair deal and properly reward them for their talent. This industry, like others, has needed an overhaul for a long time.”
McGregor, alongside co-founders Richard Buck and Julian O’Brienhas set out to challenge the norms of the music business, offering partnerships that support talent at all levels, from multi-platinum stars to emerging artists. While the concept of UFC stars jumping into business ventures is hardly new, McGregor’s dedication to his projects has always been a standout feature and his campaign on the streets is a testament to the lengths he’s willing to go to make sure it succeeds.

However, even as his empire outside the Octagon continues to grow by leaps and bounds, the timeline for ‘The Notorious’s return to action recently received a surprising update from UFC CEO Dana White!
McGregor’s return pushed back to “late” 2025 according to UFC boss
Conor McGregor’s comeback has become one of the most anticipated—and delayed—stories in MMA. McGregor’s original plan was to face Michael Chandler at UFC 303, set for June. But like so many of his grand plans, this one was derailed by an injury—a toe problem that forced him to withdraw. While Chandler took on Charles Oliveira recently at UFC 309, the Irishman had indicated that he’s aiming for a return in February in Saudi Arabia instead.

But Dana White’s latest comment has thrown cold water on those hopes. Speaking to Jim Rome, the UFC boss stated, “When Conor comes back, which I see being sometime the later part of next year, we’ll see where everybody’s at and what’s going on and we’ll figure out who faces Conor.”
So, what now? McGregor, once the hottest commodity in the UFC, is left in limbo. White insisted that McGregor wants to fight, and the two talk regularly. But he confessed, “Every time I’m on here I tell you money messes everything up.” For now, the ‘Notorious One’ is turning his focus to new horizons, proving that his ambition stretches far beyond the Octagon. His hands-on approach to promoting his record label, Greenback Records, is just another example of his relentless drive. Yet, the fans are left wondering, will we see Conor McGregor inside the Octagon in 2025? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
