NEW PHILADELPHIA (WJER) (Nov. 20, 2024) – Transportation officials are letting us know what to expect during our first blast of winter.
The forecast calls for rain initially with snow showers developing by morning as temperatures hover near freezing. ODOT District 11 spokesperson Lauren Borell says we shouldn’t see much accumulation on the roads but crews are standing by just in case.
“The good thing is pavement temperatures have been higher so we don’t expect any flash freezing or anything like that but we are keeping an eye on it and will plow and treat the roads as needed, depending on what the weather brings.”
While we might luck out this time, Borell encourages everyone to get prepared for whatever Mother Nature might have in store for us next.
“Be sure to check your tires to make sure you have plenty of tread. Your windshield washer fluid. That’s really important. Make sure those levels are good. Always keep your fuel tank as full as possible, especially during the winter months in case of a breakdown or something.”
