LThe Royal Meteorological Institute (IRM) has issued a yellow warning for slippery conditions overnight from Wednesday to Thursday for all provinces of the country, with the exception of West Flanders, it said on Wednesday.
The warning has been in effect since 8 p.m. Wednesday and will apply until 9 a.m. Thursday.
Wednesday evening and next night, showers of sleet or sometimes snow will affect the north, northeast and center of the country. A small temporary accumulation will be locally possible in these regions.
At the end of the night, the sky will clear and temperatures will drop to around 0 degrees. Patches of ice may form locally and make roads slippery in these regions.
The Road Action Unit (CAR) indicated on Wednesday evening that all conventional means in terms of personnel and equipment from the Public Service of Wallonia (SPW) remain mobilized to ensure the safety of users and maintain good traffic conditions on regional roads.
However, it recommends that all users remain vigilant if they have to use the road network, particularly the secondary network. All motorists are invited to adapt their speed, avoid any sudden maneuvers and keep a sufficient safety distance from the vehicle in front of them.
In Brussels, the first snowflakes have fallen on the streets, but the snow does not hold on the roads.
