Lhe Kalmthout priest Bernard D., aged 60, who was suspected of drug trafficking leading to the death of a 69-year-old colleague, was finally released on conditions by the Antwerp council chamber.
On the night of September 26 to 27, Andrew W. and he used narcotics while having sexual relations. Arriving on site, emergency services quickly understood the seriousness of the situation, but were unable to resuscitate the British priest, who died on the spot.
Following the tragedy, an investigation was opened by local authorities. This Wednesday, the Antwerp public prosecutor's office indicates to our colleagues in Newspaper that Andrew W. died as a result of ingesting large doses of MDMA.
“It surprises me that an overdose could be the cause of death. My client and the victim used a limited amount of drugs together. The question is what the victim may have taken before that. Further research will allow us to know more. I would like to emphasize once again that there was no malicious intent on the part of my client,” confirms the priest’s lawyer John Maes.
