Korean top laner Choi “Zeus” Woo-je is no longer a member of the esports organization, T1.
T1 expressed their gratitude for his contributions and extended their best wishes for his future endeavors in an announcement on X (formerly Twitter).
This departure marks the beginning of his free agency period, and he has not yet signed with any new team as of writing.
T1 parts ways with star top laner Zeus, replaces him with former Griffin member Doran
To fill the void left by Zeus, the organization has signed former Hanwha Life Esports top laner Choi “Doran” Hyeon-joon.
Doran brings a wealth of experience to T1, having previously competed for top-tier teams like DRX, KT Rolster, Gen.G, and Griffin. Notably, he played a crucial role in Hanwha Life Esports’ victory in the LCK Summer Playoffs 2024 against Gen.G, and in Gen.G’s LCK Summer Playoffs 2023 triumph over T1.
T1 is urging fans to support Doran as he takes on the challenging role of replacing Zeus and aims to continue the team’s legacy of success.
During his time with T1, Zeus achieved numerous accolades, including two consecutive LCK Top of the Year titles (2022 and 2023) and two World Championships. He also contributed to Team Korea’s gold medal victory at Asian Games 2022. At Worlds 2023, he was awarded Finals MVP.
His departure signals the end of an era for T1, particularly with the dissolution of the highly successful ZOFGK T1 LoL roster. This T1 LoL roster, comprised of Zeus, Mun “Oner” Hyeon-jun, Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok, Lee “Gumayusi” Min-hyeong and Ryu “Keria” Min-seok, dominated the League of Legends scene, securing back-to-back World Championships in 2023 and 2024, and domestic triumphs in the LCK Spring Playoffs 2022. They also won the Esports World Cup tournament in 2024.
