After the actions carried out this Monday by the FNSEA and the Young Farmers in Charente, it is the turn of the Rural Coordination to prepare to express its dissatisfaction. The union, which is organizing its national congress this Tuesday and Wednesday at Futuroscope in Poitiers, is announcing a series of actions from Thursday, aimed at disrupting the flow of food goods in the department.
Targeted blockages of supply centers
According to La Charente Libre, three strategic sites in Charente will be at the heart of the mobilization: the Intermarché base in Roullet-Saint-Estèphe, that of Lidl in Vars, and the Scachap platform in Leclerc in Ruffec. Members of the Charente Rural Coordination will receive support from their colleagues in Vienne to coordinate these blockages. The objective? Make an impression and put increased pressure on food freight flows, a point that the union openly raises.
Gatherings planned throughout the department
To converge on the blockade sites, rallying points are planned across Charente. From the early hours of Thursday morning, demonstrators will come together to make their voices heard in a coordinated manner.
Pressure that intensifies
This rise in mobilization comes in a context of rivalry between Rural Coordination and the FNSEA, the majority union. For Rural Coordination, it is not only a question of putting pressure on economic actors but also of marking its ground against other agricultural representatives. By calling this approach a “blockage of food freight”, the union claims to want to strike hard, while placing the agricultural transition and the defense of its members at the center of the debate.
