The Christmas bonus could not be paid on December 15 this year since this date falls on a Sunday in 2024.
Created in 1998 by Lionel Jospin (1,000 francs at the time), the Christmas bonus, aimed at the most modest, concerns more than 2 million households. Paid every year since, this bonus is not sustainable. But it was renewed for 2024 according to the declarations of Paul Christophe, the Minister of Solidarity, Autonomy and Equality between women and men to our colleagues in Ouest-France.
A change of date
Usually paid on December 15 by the Family Allowance Fund (CAF), the Mutualité sociale agricole (MSA) or Pôle emploi, this bonus could not be paid on the same date this year. And for good reason, December 15 falls on a Sunday this year. Paul Christophe specified that the Christmas bonus would therefore be paid from Friday December 13.
As a reminder, this bonus is aimed at households having received one of the following social benefits during the month of November or December 2023:
- the specific solidarity allowance (ASS) paid to unemployed people who have exhausted their rights or are not entitled to unemployment insurance;
- the retirement equivalent allowance (AER) which has no longer existed since 2011 but those who were entitled to it before 2011 continue to receive it;
- the monthly flat-rate return to work bonus;
- active solidarity income (RSA), provided that your household resources do not exceed the amount of the base RSA corresponding to the composition of your family.
To find out if you are eligible to claim this bonus and do not exceed this amount, you can check the table below.

An amount which can be increased for RSA beneficiaries depending on the composition of their household.
For all other beneficiaries of social benefits (ASS, AER or monthly flat-rate return to work bonus), the Christmas bonus is fixed, whatever the composition of the family, and amounts to 152,45 €.
