On Facebook, Jimmy Samijn, Jean-Marie ‘JM’ Desreux and Koen Bruggemans respond in a joint statement to the death of their travel buddy. “Glenn, who had been part of our group since 1995, had been struggling with his health for some time, but after his procedure in September everything seemed to be moving in the right direction. Two weeks ago he was on stage at the TMF Awards, where we received a Lifetime Achievement Award. Glenn will remain in our hearts forever. We are still waiting for further information and will keep you informed.”
A few weeks ago, Get Ready! and De Romeo’s still on the same stage, that of the Limburghal in Genk. “This morning, contrary to my habit, I had not read the news,” says Chris Van Tongelen. “I was expected in the party hall to discuss an event. The first thing they said to me was: Have you heard from Glenn yet? I came completely out of the blue.”
Van Tongelen and De Gendt share their roots and lived in the same village. “So we met each other regularly, and that was always fun. Glenn was a very nice guy, good-natured and easy-going. I knew him best of the four. The same roots, that creates a bond. Gunther and Davy know the other guys from Get Ready! better, because they were already regularly on the same stages in the 1990s. Three weeks ago I told him: Come on, we won’t see each other that often anymore. Of course, we knew they would stop doing it soon. But I didn’t expect that it would really be the last time.”

Always friendly
Singer Koen Crucke also reacts with emotion. “I knew Glenn well, just like all the guys from Get Ready!. We always saw each other at performances, like at Ten to see. Even though the style of music we perform is very different, the contact was always warm. I remember Glenn as a cheerful boy. Always friendly, always cheerful when I saw him. We had good chats, especially when we hung around after performances, which sometimes happened. I always found him very open: he did not immediately talk about the profession, but about life.”
“The news came as a shock this morning. They always say, ‘That’s life.’ But that’s not life, he was 50, still so young. It really makes you think about life and what is happening around you.”
“He hasn’t been on stage for a while, but a few months ago I met him in Ostend,” Crucke continues. “He was shopping in Zara. That we just had to meet there after such a long time… He had a busy day, otherwise we would probably go for a coffee. I haven’t sent any personal messages yet, but I wanted to share my condolences via my Instagram story. I will contact the other boys personally at the right time.”
Pat Krimson and Loredana from the dance formation 2Fabiola also expressed their condolences on Instagram. “Rest in peace, Glenn,” Loredana wrote with a photo of the singer. “Good luck to the guys from Get Ready!, family and friends.”
