A serious accident occurred this Tuesday in the ski resort of Val Thorens, in Savoie. The cabin of the Cime Caron cable car hit the arrival station. According to the Savoie prefecture, two people are seriously injured, without a life-threatening condition, and four others are slightly injured.
The accident occurred in “very difficult weather conditions”, specifies the prefecture in a press release.
The NOVI plan activated by the prefect of Savoie
This cable car, which rises to more than 3,000 meters, was being used as part of an ongoing construction site and was transporting 16 workers at the time of the accident which occurred around 7:30 a.m. this Tuesday morning.
The prefecture has activated the numerous victims plan (NOVI) in order to coordinate emergency services, in conjunction with the mayors of the municipalities concerned. The victims were evacuated by helicopter.
