In front of its audience at the Colisée, Chartres won the derby against ADA Blois (92-91). With this 3rd success in the championship, the promoted from Chartres leaves its place of red lantern in Nantes and reassures itself before the international break.
An indecent 3-point success and Chartres in the lead at the break
After a serious start to the match (6-11, 4′), ADA Blois quickly saw CCBM come back on level terms. If Romuald Morency shone for his return (15 points at 6/8 on shots and 4 rebounds), the Blésois, severely lacking in skill at the start of the match, did not manage to stop the opposing offensives in these first ten minutes, point of being a little point behind (21-20). Uninhibited and formidable at 3-points (7/15 on shots in this first half, 9/24 in the end), the teammates of Desi Washington (12 points on 4/10 shooting, 5 rebounds and 6 assists) played their luck bravely, widening a significant gap in this second quarter (36-29, 15′). On a cloud offensively, the locals returned to the locker room with a 14-point lead (51-37).
A contentious end to the match
Dominated in the physical impact, the Blésois failed to raise their tone in the second half. Like Desi Washington effective in the first twenty minutes, T.K. Edogi (16 points on 7/13 shots, 8 rebounds and 2 assists) also contributed to Chartres' success. Still in the lead after 30 minutes of high quality play (73-62), the locals never released the pressure in this match. Coming back to within 5 points of Chartres five minutes from the end (79-74, 35′), ADA Blois tried everything to reverse the trend, in vain despite two consecutive winning shots from Maxime Sconard. And David Morabito's team can blame themselves. In a very stormy end to the match, Timothy Vergiat had the shot to win at his fingertips but that was without counting on the saving counter from Rigo Edzata (8 points and 6 rebounds) to offer the derby to the locals (92-91). A few seconds after the buzzer, a scuffle broke out between the Blésois Maxime Sconardwho sent a ball into the stands with his foot, chambered by the Chartrains T.K. Edogi et Desi Washington.
Beaten once again this season, ADA Blois (2nd), physically affected, will take advantage of the international break to recharge their batteries. For its part, Chartres is no longer last in Pro B. Finally, the 3rd team from the Center, Orléans, made the great achievement of the evening by retaining its first place.
