The November 14 episode of ABC’s long-running Grey’s Anatomy was a doozy. Not one, not two but three characters were written off — one of them with zero chance of returning.
A Happy Ending, A New Beginning

Dreading the thought of having a long-distance relationship, Levi admitted to his new boyfriend, Grey Sloan’s widowed chaplain, that he was falling in love with him. “You’ve lived all over the world,” Schmitt said, “so why not San Antonio,” where the co-chief resident’s pediatric research position was taking him?
James didn’t give Levi an answer right away, but in the final moments of the hour, he revealed that he’d just resigned from his job. Where Schmitt went, he would follow. Aww!
Heartbreak On Top of Heartbreak
Following their car crash in the November 7 episode, Midori Francis’ Mika Yasuda and her sister, Julia Rose’s Chloe, were rushed to Grey Sloan. Though surgeons were able to save Chloe’s legs, the combined impact of the injuries she sustained in the accident and her just having undergone her first round of chemo was too much for her: She died.
Miraculously, Mika pulled through, only to learn upon awakening that her beloved sister hadn’t made it. Though Francis is also leaving Grey’s Anatomyshowrunner Meg Marinis promised our sister site TVLine that “you’re going to see [Mika and Levi] again.” Here’s hoping!
