Recent studies reveal the most “dangerous” ages for infidelity. They also highlight significant differences between men and women in terms of infidelity, particularly with regard to frequency and motivations.

A study conducted by an extramarital dating site highlights a disparity between men and women when it comes to infidelity. While 46% of men surveyed admit to having already cheated on their partner, this figure rises to 38% for women. Interestingly, this percentage was 32% in 2014, indicating an increase in female infidelity in recent years.

Age, a determining factor?

Age appears to play a significant role in male infidelity. According to a study by the University of New Hampshire, the peak of infidelity is around age 55. This period would correspond to a need to reassure oneself about one’s ability to seduce.

This theory is reinforced by another study, conducted by the journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States of America, which analyzes data from the extramarital dating site Ashley Madison. The results show that men are more likely to cheat on their partners at certain pivotal ages, such as 29, 39 and 49. These periods would correspond to moments of questioning and transition in life.
