Last July, Damso announced the end of his career after the release of his album “BĒYĀH” scheduled for 2025. Finally, it is at the end of 2024 that the Belgian artist releases his new album very aptly titled “I lied “.
In an interview given to Parisianhe looks back on the different phases he went through in his last years and in particular on his mental health. “I'm better morally, mentally and physically,” explains the rapper who now aspires to a simple life: “What interests me now is collecting moments of joy, sometimes small, on a walk, in a café … It makes for great memories and a great life.”
The rapper does not hesitate to look back on the emotional lows he has experienced in his life “but the moments of depression are fewer than before, it’s like a microclimate. You just have to adapt to these moments and I do it in a peaceful way.”
“I am a Damsautist”
The artist admits to being very interested in psychology while admitting to having never consulted a professional, finding more comfort with those close to him. “Since I was 4 years old, I have been told in a pejorative way, either that I am HPI, or autistic, or in the moon, in short, in my thing. Same in my relationships, it wasn't working and basically it was always up to me to make the effort.” The rapper born in Kinshasa in the Democratic Republic of Congo continues, “Like a lot of people, I'm just trying to release my traumas. I didn't ask to live in war when I was a kid. I just vent them behind a microphone, it's cool. I don't have to justify myself. That’s what this song says, Come on, let’s stop… I’m a Damsautist.” An elegant way to invite your audience to be more compassionate with themselves.
