Hail and strong winds up to wind force 11, or less wind but lots of snow: whatever it will be, according to the weather computer we can expect a lot of exciting things next Tuesday. “The weather models are going crazy,” says meteorologist Amara Onwuka of Buienradar. The uncertainty is great, she emphasizes, but it will be an ‘interesting weather day’ anyway.
And it’s about time, not much interesting has happened in the past period and today and tomorrow the weather picture is ‘gloomy, boring and quiet’.
This is, says the weather woman, due to a high-pressure area over our country. “There may be some rain locally in the west tonight. But that is not very exciting.” Tomorrow it will be about 11 degrees and there will be little wind again.
And on Saturday, during the arrival of Saint Nicholas in Vianen? In the morning it will be dry in most places. “Some rain may only fall in the north.” More rain will follow later in the day, especially the evening and night will be wet. “In general it’s not too bad, it will be about 11 degrees and that is average for this time of year. What you do notice is that the wind is starting to pick up a bit.”
Wintry showers possible on Sunday
On Sunday, when Sinterklaas is traditionally welcomed in many other places, an ‘open weather type’ will follow. “Every now and then beautiful white clouds pass by, which may occasionally cause hail to fall.” Some places have more precipitation than others. “You’re in luck for the same money. Just keep a close eye on Buienradar.”
Completely loose
A low pressure area with rain will follow on Monday. But let’s jump ahead to Tuesday, because Onwuka sees a disturbance coming our way from the ocean.
“It will reach the Netherlands anyway. We don’t know yet in what capacity that will happen. If it passes north, the wind will blow very hard. The weather models are going crazy, they show a wind force of 10 to 11. I won’t assume that. go, but you can see it as a warning.”
Snow
In the above scenario we can count on occasional winter precipitation and hail. Another scenario looks much more wintery.
“If the disturbance follows a more southerly route, we will get less wind. Then we will have to deal with colder air. Then snow could just fall. That snow will not remain due to the warm subsoil, but traffic will suffer a lot.”
The weather computer makes a new calculation every few hours. The meteorologist says that there is still a lot of uncertainty. “Something interesting is going to happen on Tuesday.”
